Why I Almost Gave Up—and How I PR’d My Way Back

I thought I had hit a wall. After pushing hard for months in the gym and juggling endless deadlines in my digital consulting career, burnout started creeping in. I wasn’t sleeping well, I lost motivation to train, and honestly—I questioned whether CrossFit was still for me. This is the story of how I nearly walked away… and what pulled me back in stronger than ever.

The Grind Behind the Scenes

As someone who works in the digital industry, the hustle never really stops. Between building client websites and managing virtual teams, I felt like I was always “on.” At first, the WODs were my outlet—a way to shut the laptop and sweat out the stress. But after months of poor recovery, neglected mobility work, and zero mindfulness, I plateaued. Worse, I dreaded walking into the box. I almost quit.

Finding Clarity in Consistency

One day, a coach looked me in the eye and said, “You don’t need to push harder—you need to reflect smarter.” That hit. I started using a wellness journal from FitGit.me, tracking not just my workouts but how I felt before and after training. Was I sleeping? Was I fueled? Did the day’s WOD improve my mindset or crush it?

The results were eye-opening. I started adjusting my approach—scaling intelligently, prioritizing recovery, and respecting my limits. It felt less like giving up and more like taking control. Within weeks, I unlocked a clean PR I’d been chasing for six months.

The Comeback Lift

That PR wasn’t the biggest lift I’ve ever had, but it showed me I’d made true progress. I wasn’t running on fumes anymore—I was lifting with purpose. CrossFit had always been about more than hitting numbers. This time, I was stronger mentally, too.

Now, the wellness journal isn’t just part of my routine—it’s my roadmap. And when I see that familiar fatigue creeping in again, I flip a few pages back and remember: I’ve been here before. I know how to pivot. I know how to thrive.

Final Thoughts

If you’re in the digital world like me—always connected, always pushing—it’s easy to feel like quitting is the only option when the passion fades. But maybe, just maybe, you don’t need to quit. Maybe you just need perspective. Track what matters, take care of your body, and trust the small wins. They’re what build the comeback you’ve been waiting for.

Always remember to TTFBs!!!
