FitGit started as a personal tool. I was manually logging my food, fitness, and body stats into ChatGPT to get feedback and advice. For a while, it worked beautifully—until ChatGPT lost all my data.
That moment sparked the idea for something more durable. I built a database to store everything and created a workflow where AI still provided real-time analysis. I could now enter data in plain language or structured format, and the system would interpret it, fill fields, calculate calories, and even generate summaries.
Over time, I realized this system wasn’t just helping me—it could help others. I turned it into a free tool anyone could use, with donation support for servers and AI costs.
Firstly, an apology: FitGit.me is not perfect — you may run into bugs or issues while using it! I originally built it for myself as a better way to track my daily health stats, but it quickly turned into a passionate project.
To get started, simply sign up. Once you have an account, you can fill out as much or as little personal information as you'd like. The system works regardless — but the more you enter, the more the built-in AI can tailor your daily analysis and feedback to suit you. All fields are optional.
The Log screen is the heart of the system. For each selected date, you can log your stats, food, exercise, and general notes. The magic happens in the Notes box, which is entirely freeform. You can write naturally and FitGit will sort the content automatically.
"2 glasses of water, 1 vitamin shake and 10k run"
In this case, the water and shake go into food, the 10k run goes into exercise, and calories are calculated and added.

Once you're done for the day, tick the “Close Day” box. This finalizes your data, applies any final AI analysis, and gives you a helpful summary — including feedback, motivational comments, and suggestions.
Coming soon: weekly and monthly analytics, visual graphs, and progress tracking tools so you can see how far you’ve come.
If you spot bugs, have feedback, or want to request new features — please reach out. I’d love to hear from you and continue improving FitGit with your help.

Hi, I’m Mark — the creator of FitGit. I’ve worn many hats over the years: entrepreneur, technologist, public speaker, business builder… but like many people, I reached a point where I wanted to take better control of my health. I wasn’t looking for a gimmick or a new trend — I just wanted a simple, smart, and honest way to track what I eat, how I move, and how my body responds.
That’s what led me to build FitGit. It started as a personal side project — I was entering my food and exercise into ChatGPT manually and asking it for feedback. It worked beautifully... until one day, it forgot everything. That was the spark. I dusted off my coding skills (after more than 25 years away!), built a backend, integrated AI workflows, and before I knew it, FitGit became a fully-fledged platform.
My passion now is to make FitGit available to anyone who wants to feel more in control of their wellness. I believe fitness tools should be useful, flexible, and private. That’s why FitGit is free to use, with donations helping to support the servers and AI tools that make it run.
Mark Trowbridge, FitGit Creator
Outside of FitGit, I’m also involved in tech and communication startups — and yes, I still run (almost) every day. In reality I’m a workaholic, and have been all my life, but sport has played a big part of my downtime — playing International hockey, Divisional Rugby, 200m sprinting at Nationals, captaining a championship-winning team, and generally enjoying all forms of activity whether team-based or individual.
Now, with a few years behind me, I’m driven by a deep desire to stay as fit and healthy as possible — to physically match the 35-year-old version of myself I still carry inside. I want to keep saying “yes” to life and everything it throws at me, for many, many years to come.
TTFB — it’s simple really. Like anything in life, you get better with consistency. Keep turning up, keep putting in your best, and you’ll get results.
Thanks for being part of the journey,
– Mark
