When I set my sights on completing my first 100-mile race, I didn’t realize I was also training my mind to perform in the digital world. Logging miles along trails while balancing deadlines, code commits, and sprint retrospectives became my new wellness journal—written one stride at a time.
Endurance is the Real Framework
Much like software development, ultra running is a marathon of sprints. Every mile asked me the same things product development does: Are you clear on your why? Can you pivot under pressure? The biggest lesson came not from my legs, but my ability to manage mental fatigue and push through iteration after iteration of self-doubt.
Recovery is Strategy
In both code and training cycles, neglecting rest only leads to bugs—and injuries. I started journaling more, using fitgit.me’s wellness journal feature to track how my body and mind responded to different runs, meetings, and stressors. Turns out, you can’t commit to performance without committing to recovery.
Community is the Catalyst
I learned that training solo isn’t the same as growing alone. Sharing progress, setbacks, and milestones in our community kept my fire lit, even on the coldest trail mornings. The digital world can feel isolating—but it doesn’t have to be.
Ultra running doesn’t end at the finish line. It bleeds into our tabs, our tools, our teams. Every mile gave me more perspective on how intention can fuel both physical and professional growth.
Always remember to TTFBs!!!
